Five Fresh Events in Georgian Bay this August

Annnnnnnnnnnnnd we’re back! We’ve got five fresh events in Georgian Bay you’ll want to add to your calendar for August. We’ve already added a couple of these to our calendars, so maybe we’ll see you there (including 2 pine dinners! We’re THAT excited about it!!!!)

From 8 course meals on a farm to meteor showers in the middle of a march, to classic movies under the stars, to one of the best folk festivals in the country. Whether you’re a local, or just visiting, make sure to check out some of these amazing events. Let’s be real, no one likes a case of fomo.

Georgian Bay has been missing Chef Jeremy Austin something fierce. We’re so lucky he’s back for a brief visit and sharing his culinary talents with us again!

Aug 9 - Marsh by Meteor

Wye Marsh

August is the magical time that you have the opportunity to see the most prolific and well known meteor shower, the Perseid.

Bring a blanket and a chair, and sit back to enjoy the spectacular display of shooting stars while an outdoor educator shares knowledge about the stars and the event.

Admission is by donation. Food & Drinks will be available for purchase.

aug 16-18 - Summerfolk

Where:
Kelso Beach, Owen Sound

A full weekend of some of the best folk around. Buy a ticket for the evening, one day, or for the full weekend and indulge in some incredible music.

Summerfolk has been around for 44 years and it never disappoints. This year they have everyone from Kathleen Edwards to William Prince to Owen Sound’s very own Marshal Veroni.

Movies out under the stars! What could be more romantic? Grab yourself a blanket, a snack and your favourite movie partner, and cuddle up to watch an absolute classic by Woody Allen.

Fireworks

July 1 -Canada Day Cruise

Island Queen, Parry Sound

Come celebrate Canada Day on the beautiful Island Queen. You’ll be treated to live music by End of the Road and a stunning fireworks display.
Can you imagine getting to enjoy fireworks right over the bay? Magical!

July 11 & 25 -Yoga & Vino

Where: Coffin Ridge

Two things we find extremely relaxing: Yoga & wine.
Combine those two for a real treat. Join Tanya Grace for a 45 minute yoga class followed by a glass of wine and a sunset across the vineyard.

Axe Throwing at Coffin Ridge

July 19- Axe Throwing

Where: Coffin Ridge Boutique Winery

Back by popular demand.The third round of axe throwing at Coffin Ridge! The Axed Mobile Throwing Club will be joining the Coffin Ridge crew from 6:30-8:30pm for a one hour training session, followed by an hour long tournament.

Oyster Pop-up with The Bivalve

Gibson & Co.

The Bivalve Oyster & Libation Co. has teamed up with Gibson & Co. to present an oyster and raw bar pop-up. With a menu and wine pairing to follow.

An annual favourite in the area, Elvisfest is back! We’ve heard rumours that this may be it’s last year. Let’s hope not, but be sure not to miss it just in case!

Who doesn’t love a farmers market? Fresh food, talented artisans, open air, live music, and local, seasonal produce. Make sure you hunt down some Ironwood Coffee while you’re there.

Ciderfest

Where: Multiple locations

Ciderfest is a 10 day event with 7 stops offering cider pairings. Get your passport and head to each venue at your leisure, or arrange to hop on the bus. Some ciderstops are also offering meet the maker sessions. Check ahead of time to see when and where to meet your makers.
